Remote Digital Tower Alarm Monitoring
Remote Digital Tower
PAMS & the Remote Digital Tower
PAMS has been proven in supporting Remote Digital ATC Tower operations, providing the same reliable alarm management whether at the remote site or the aerodrome itself.
The Remote Digital ATC Tower has proven to be transformational in managing airfields, with significantly reduced operating costs, and technology that improves situational awareness and can enhance safety. High-definition camera arrays cover the full 360º with a digital view on 270º of screens rather than the typical out-of-the-window view in the VCR.
PAMS Proven in Use
PAMS has been used to support Digital Air Traffic Control towers with PAMS equipment both at the remote site and the airfield itself.
The PAMS Site System Server is typically located in the equipment room of the Remote Digital Tower and is connected over a secure WAN, alongside the camera data traffic and other equipment communications.
SNMP interfacing and remote I/O racks allow PAMS to communicate with the key ATM systems over the WAN or LAN. Local inputs and outputs can also be used to monitor other ATM systems located in the same equipment room and retransmit the airfield status to the Remote Virtual Tower system to highlight any issues.
PAMS HMIs
From a Human Factors perspective, PAMS Workstations are designed to behave in exactly the same way, whether they are based in the local airport or on a remote site. In most cases, they are provided in both locations with configurations for ATCOs or ATSEP engineers as appropriate.
