About PAMS – ATC Alarm Monitoring Systems
About Us
PAMS - delivering critical alarm management for aviation safety
The Prodigy Alarm Management System (PAMS) represents Tascomp's dedicated response to the aviation industry's need for reliable, intelligent alarm management solutions. Born from real-world operational requirements at busy airports, PAMS transforms how air traffic control and engineering teams monitor and respond to equipment alarms across complex airfield environments.
Tascomp has supplied control and monitoring systems using our own in-house, UK developed industrial automation software, since 1981. We have worked all over the world, in virtually every manufacturing industry sector. Our customers range from single site companies with a small number of assets, to global organisations with manufacturing sites in a number of countries.
Key to our success is a commitment to working closely with our customers to provide solutions that allow them to increase their efficiency and capacity, improve their quality and consistency, and ultimately realise their potential. We have standard solutions for many applications but can also provide bespoke and innovative solutions when more is required, using our teams of programmers and applications engineers. This is why we have customers that we still deal with, week-in week-out, from the time we started in business 40 years ago.
Tascomp's products have always been noted for their reliability and technical excellence.
OUR HISTORY
COMPANY FOUNDED
Tascomp set up to develop software to automate manufacturing processes and collect real time data for analysis.
FIRST MAJOR PARTNERSHIP
Tascomp began working with Cummins in their engine development Test Cells, controlling and monitoring their diesel engines, generating printed reports and trend plots.
TASCMASTER SCADA
After a few years of developing one-off systems, the Tascmaster SCADA software was born, combining common features such as status displays and, real time and historic trending, into a single package. It was used first for Armstrong World Industries in 1988.
DOWN TIME MONITORING CAPABILITY
Tools were developed within Tascmaster to provide a real time down time monitoring capability. This included direct connections to the machines and simple operator interfaces for the shop floor. First used for the galvanising lines at Tinsley Wire (Sheffield).
TASCMASTER PLATFORM EXTENDED
Tascmaster was developed to run on the real-time operating system, OS-9. With the advent of low cost PC hardware, the platform was extended to run on PCs using the new operating system, OS-9000. The first system was developed for the remote operation of a weighbridge.
BS-5750 CERTIFIED
After formalising our existing processes further, Tascomp was awarded BS-5750 certification.
PRODIGY SCADA LAUNCHED
Tascmaster was redeveloped for the Windows-NT platform with the extremely efficient back-end code ported and the front end redeveloped, to create Prodigy SCADA. It was first used to control a set of kilns at Muntons.
APPROVED INTEGRATOR NETWORK
With the successful development of Prodigy, the opportunity was taken to introduce systems integrators to the package. ISS Ltd became the first Prodigy Approved Systems Integrator.
AUTOCLAVE CONTROL
Prodigy SCADA was further developed to replace the CRL and Eurotherm equipment Tascomp had previously used for Autoclave Control. It was first used to control an autoclave heat treating aircraft parts at GKN.
ATC ALARM MANAGEMENT
Starting with Prodigy's existing alarm handling capabilities, Tascomp developed the first Prodigy Alarm Management System (PAMS) for Jersey Airport.
PLANTRUN DEVELOPMENT STARTS
Following a review of the down time monitoring capabilities of Prodigy, PlantRun was designed and development started. This would transform the functionality into a dedicated OEE & Production Information System.
FIRST GLOBAL DEPLOYMENT
Tascomp provide a global solution to a number of manufacturing sites to improve utilisation and efficiency, for ESAB, a world leading welding consumables manufacturer.
INTEGRATOR MILESTONE
The 50th Approved Systems Integrator is trained.
MAJOR GOVERNMENT CONTRACT
Tascomp are awarded a 22 year contract from the UK MOD. 28 PAMS systems are to be provided as part of the Project Marshall programme for military airfields.
MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENT
The Senator Group are supplied with a PlantRun System, License No. 5000.
DIGITAL AVIATION FIRST
London City Airport becomes the UK's first Remote Digital Air Traffic Control Tower. It makes use of PAMS functionality at both the airport and at NATS's Swanwick facility 70 miles away. There are now no Air Traffic Controllers at the airport, and alarm status information is relayed to the new remote control centre.
BEST DIGITAL PROJECT AWARD
Tascomp won the Best Digital Project at the Tees Tech Awards for their work with PAMS at London City Airport.
COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE
Our open management style and flexible working environment have helped establish a team of long-term employees who are enthusiastic and committed to our global success.
