System Extensions & Optional Features

Advanced Features

PAMS Optional Features

PAMS can be configured to enhance its capabilities and flexibility.

Optional Features

Displays specific to their location

Configurable Workstation displays allow different displays to be made available in different locations, ensuring only relevant information is provided at each position.

Augmented Alarm and Event Recording

Augmenting the recorded alarm history, when acknowledging an alarm, by forcing a comment to be entered ensures a fuller picture is available for later review.

Location Based Alarm Acknowledgement

Recording who acknowledged an alarm condition and from which location, further adds to the quality of the recorded information.

Handover Control

Alarm acknowledgements can be configured to reside with ATE and be handed over to ATC outside of the engineer's normal shift.

Mechanisms are also provided to acknowledge the transfer and also to take over control in situations where a response is not forthcoming.

Broadcast Notifications (SMS, Email, PA System) & Escalation

Improved awareness of issues is achieved through broadcasting notifications of changes in the operational status of ATM equipment. This can be through SMS text messaging, email alerts, or even through a PA system.

Major Fault Facility

In the event of a significant infrastructure issue where multiple ATM systems trigger alarms, en-masse acknowledgement can be taken so that more productive time is spent locating and resolving the source of the issues.

Information Display System Functionality

Help Facility to Access SOPs

Quick access to Standard Operating Procedures directly from the PAMS interface, ensuring controllers have the information they need at hand.

Static Information

Static information such as Met contact details, NOTAMs etc. can be made available through the PAMS interface. These can also be displayed on additional larger screens to ensure the information is easier to see.

Additional Capabilities

Additional functionality can be included, covering:
Rack temperature monitoring

PAMS I/O racks can be fitted with temperature monitoring to allow the equipment room temperatures to be monitored, either with a single measurement or a sensor for each rack.

Power monitoring

Airfield power issues can result in tripped MCBs for ATM equipment. By monitoring these, identifying a fault can be simplified and the resolution time reduced.

Power meters can also be utilised to provide full electrical monitoring and usage recording in PAMS, 24/7.

Room access monitoring

Access monitoring and recording of equipment rooms throughout the aerodrome can be included by monitoring door entry or PIRs.

Centralised Engineering covering multiple airfields

Cost savings can be made through centralising engineering resources for multiple airfields. Using a PAMS Group Alarm Server (PGAS) each airfield is continuously monitored through a WAN connection, with current individual airfield equipment statuses transmitted in real-time and recordings mirrored.
